Athens-Atlanta Asphalt was established in 1978 and has been serving customers throughout the metro Atlanta area for more than 20 years.

Company founder Danny Wood, a veteran of the construction industry, started small. At first, his jobs were in the area of pavement repair. But the company grew quickly, driven by a spreading reputation for quality work, and it wasn’t long until the company’s project list began to expand rapidly.

Within just a few years Athens-Atlanta Asphalt was taking on large commercial paving projects, further enhancing its reputation for quality work delivered on time.

Currently, Athens-Atlanta Asphalt fields nine trained crews, equipped with the latest equipment, to handle not only asphalt paving but other related types of work as well. The company has two paving crews, two base crews, and two concrete crews, plus a sealcoat crew, a pavement marking crew and a pipe crew. Today, the company has more than 30 employees.

Many folks ask how the company got its name.

“When I was first forming the company,” Danny says, “I was visiting with my father and talking about how I needed a name for the company. He was watching Channel 8 at the time, and the station came on with an announcement that said it served the Athens-Atlanta area. That rang a bell, and Athens-Atlanta Asphalt was born.”
